Eco printed

Eco printing is a form of surface design that uses only natural plant material to transfer an image onto fabric.

You start by taking blank fabric. In order to prepare it for taking color, you scour it to remove soaps and other chemicals within the garment.

Next, you mordant the fabric. Mordanting is a process that allows the fabric to accept the imprint of the plant material.

Then, you need to gather the materials for the eco printing. You sort the materials onto fabric in a design. You roll up the fabric into a bundle and immerse it in water with or without other plant material. Simmer it for an hour and then let it sit over night.

Then, unroll the bundle and reveal the dyes that the plant material has left behind!
